David’s story is an interesting one, he moved out of home at the age of 15, moving overseas live in the UK and follow his dreams of becoming a professional football player; it was all going well until he faced a injury that lasted over 2 years: costochondritis. David had trialled at Crystal Palace’s Academy, and was playing in Tottenham Hotspur’s Player Development Programme. His injury meant he had to readjust his plans and reconsider whether professional football was the pathway he wanted to continue in. A very difficult decision to make at 15. David’s injury, and as such: inability to play his favourite sport, lead to some difficult and dark times for him. Isolated away from his immediate family who live in Australia, and unsure of how long his devastating injury would last, David really struggled.
